How to Join and Leave the Queue

Channels in Slack are flexible spaces for all the people, tools, and files you need to get work done. These channels can be public channels and are open for anyone within the organization to join or find in search. A private channel is otherwise an invite-only for sensitive and confidential conversations.

The Queue app can be integrated into any of these channel types

To Join the Queue

  1. Select and join the desired channel
  2. In the send message box, type and enter @Queue. This will initiate the installation of the Queue app on the current channel
  3. You will get a notification from Slackbot that the Queue app has been invited and added to the channel
  4. Once the Queue has been added you will be prompted to Join
    1. You can join by directly clicking on the Join button or
    2. by typing /queue join
  5. You will be notified that you have been added and ranked in the queue

To Leave the Queue

  1. Select a channel where you have joined the queue
  2. You can leave the queue by clicking on the Leave button or typing the command /queue leave
  3. You will get a notification confirming that you have been removed from the queue, you will also be informed of the brief summary of the queue
  4. Leaving the queue does not remove you as member of the channel

Joining and leaving Queue in another channel

You can join a Queue in a different channel by issuing the following commands:

  1. To join a Queue, use /queue join #another-channel
  2. To leave, use /queue leave #another-channel
